I'm not a boxer myself but I was delighted with the success of the Irish boxers at this year's Olympics. The Irish boxing team won four medals;

Katie Taylor - Gold
John Joe Nevin - Silver
Paddy Barnes (my personal favourite) - Bronze
Michael Conlon - Bronze

I'm a little surprised you haven't heard of Katie Taylor, she is Irish, European, World and Olympic champion - she has won the World Championship four times. Women's boxing obviously isn't as popular as the mens, but she is a truly great athlete.

Not a boxer myself....but have you heard of Seth Mitchell?

I boxed Jr Weight when I was 18 I am now 24. My grandpa was a gold gloves boxer in Chicago in late 60s.

On the serious side, I like boxing however I haven't had proper lessons from professionals but from my friends and I did enjoy it. Watching boxing can be good but something I need to be in the mood for.
