Any tips for bringing in members?

First of all what i will suggest is to stop displaying your anger on this forum in your wording and smilies. People are posting here to try and help you, that help comes in the forum of suggestions, likes and dislikes about your forums, what's wrong and what's right, and how to go about things. No-one has to come here and help you, there is no obligation, so please be a little more respectful. Don't demand help here.Luigi1632 said:What else could I possibly add!?
Now, on to your forums issue. By the looks of it you started the forum around the 11th March, that's one month. Don't expect a miracle "community birth" within 1 month.
You don't really need 2 admins and 4 moderators at the very start of the forum when you only have 10 members, i mean 60% staff? That's silly. Also I would never give users Admin status if they just asked me if they had only been around for a month, unless I knew them in real life of course.
As for the look of the forums, for me it's personally all to dark. The black, dark red, red, and blue, it's not welcoming to me. So that for a start would turn me off. You may not be bothered that it turns me off, but if it turns me off then who else is it turning off for the same reasons?
Maybe get some friends on the forum and get them posting to help out a bit.
But for now I need to see that you genuinely want peoples help here before I go any further.

The dark layout is just fine for my forum..
Plus I am a fan of horror.
Plus the dark layout was called perfect for my gaming forum..
Why would a dark layout turn people off?

I have 35 members, i am the only Admin, and I have one Moderator, but that is only because he's my best mate in real life and he's decided to come onboard with me so it makes sense to make him a Moderator. But even I feel i could manage the forum with one member of staff, i.e. myself with 35 members. But I wasn't telling you what to do, and I certainly was not being rude towards you.
That's ok then, however, you have to make sure that you are not using your own judgement but the judgement of people that would be interested in your forum or providing help. Just because you personally like it and it is your forum does that mean the other members that may join have to accept that?Luigi1632 said:

I'm not trying to criticise too much about it, but forums and website struggle to work if the admin wants to do things and make the site look the way they want without taking onboard what members might want.
Also is there actually a thread or anything explaining what the site is all about? I couldn't find it at first look.
Well my previous forum had a dark layout and it got 40 members.
So why would a dark layout be bad?

i never told you to do anything, I only suggested it. i am done trying to help you, it's not worth my time. There are plenty others that would welcome help from people here and give a little respect in return.

Also I didn't realise your age, I certainly wasn't trying to build an online community when I was your age. Just try not to take criticism too much to heart, because everyone has their own opinions and if you come to a place like this and ask for people's suggestions and thoughts then you are mostly like going to receive criticism.

Me and my staff have our own arguements sometimes, but overall we have a fun time..

I will have another say in this as I notice a few mistakes that may put members off.
There is pretty much a punctuation mistake in every board, you should try adding fullstops, comma's and using a space between each one, question and explanation marks should have one space after them.
Your asking how to bring in members, and I wouldn't join a forum with a theme like yours, it just had to be said. The theme is ugly, and could be improved, I recommend switching over to PhpBB3 for better and improved themes but I don't think you would see a big difference with the host your on. I recommend SMF or MyBB or InvisionFree or ZetaBoards.
You don't actually offer any gaming discussion but the main board but it states in the description, Got a new game that you want to tell us about? Well here's your perfect place to be!. You really do need to add console discussion, game developing et cetera. Also I just read up on some of your posts on your forum and notice you like to force members to speak, for example. You go like this in a post ''Huh!HUH!'' then ''What is wrong with you all''. You need to be tense and actually calm down on the !? that just makes me not to join. Plus you don't need an actual team until you know your forum is active and has more than 100 members or ten thousand posts.

Personally, I would move away from Forumotion, or if you can't afford it, at least a host which will give away the database if you learn, improve and succeed (not that you will be succeeding with forumotion anyway).
