I keep getting the following spam sent to me. It's getting rather annoying because they send it from a different email each time and it opens up a new support ticket at holderhost. Is anyone else getting these? I've had like 20 - 30 odd.

i have gotten a few of those, not exactly the same thing word for word but pretty much the same scam... please do not get rapped up into these email scams...

I get scam emails like this from time to time, but I never respond to them. I just skim through them enough to see what the hubub is then it's in the trash they go.

The last thing you should ever do, is respond to them!!!!

Even in most cases, where an "unsubscribe" option is available at the foot of the email, clicking that only informs them that someone is on the other end, hence, you can expect more to come!!!

If your own emails are hosting based, you can always strictly or partially block IP ranges coming in. Otherwise, don't fuel them in any way and they "should" drop off eventually - looking for another target.

All the best,
Cal 🙂

Another spam email I hate receiving is those fake phpBB installation emails. These tell you that a new version of phpBB is out (duh! As if we don't already know! ) and they offer so-called "Services" to help you install the new version and any mods that need to be replaced. Fortunately, I'm on ProphpBB's free plan, and they take care of all that crap for you, so all you have to worry about is just running your site in general. It's pathetic. I even got those emails over the summer when I debated about giving up forum owning for good!
