I open this thread cos I'm wondering how many people lives abroad, when they decided to move, and why?

What's your experiance with living far away from you family and old friends?

Would you like to go back home one day or you plan to stay wherever you are now?

Not out of the country or anything, just a while away. I'm not really gonna go in super detail.

It sux anyway. I hate it and love it at once, even tho it doesn't make any seans...I live abroad for 1/3 of my life (and Im a young guy still) and sometime I just want to drop everything at once and just go back home...

Sorry for a sad mood but all the Santa Claus and incoming Christmas just make me sad when I see all the happy faces of people who can enjoy their holidays with their family and friends 🙁

I'm planning on going to Amsterdam for college so yeah I will most likely be living abroad, and after that I don't know where on the globe I'll go most likely somewhere in Europe, possibly in the states or India as I'd love to go there since I won't have a home to go back to.

Then You should definitely sign up for our forum! Its for international students in the Netherlands. You can find some usefull information about housing, working and studying in the Netherlands. 🙂 Or as a question you might have 🙂

I live in the same town where I went to middle school & high school. I have a child & me and the mother aren't together. If I move away, she aint coming with me so I am stuck here. Oh well. 😛

Oh nice I will that sounds awesome haha thanks man!

My dad emigrated from the UK to South Africa when I was 11, it was back in the day before internet and mobile phones so the only communication was the odd landline call (very expensive) and much letter writing.....he died 14 years ago but because of the above reasons it still feels like he's there 😉

I moved abroad 6 years ago and I don't regret it. Sure, many things I enjoyed about the UK and I still have family there but for me life works better now. There are good and bad points about everything, you just have to look on the bright side and try not to focus on the negatives.

I moved from England to New Zealand, that's far away. Sometimes I want to go back though 😉

I moved from the UK to Canada 4 years ago. There are things I miss from there but if I moved back I would miss just as many things from here.

I have lived:

Japan
Korea
Israel
Egypt
Afghanistan
Uzbekistan
Philippines
And of course the U.S.

All full of hisotry and a story to tell.

Sounds like you were/are in the military. I'm probably polar opposites off though 😛

I'm terribly afraid of open water and traveling by air so that eliminates most countries. I also despise Canada (if your from Canada, don't get your feelings hurt, it's nothing personal against you all) and Mexico just seems too hot. So, I reckon I'm stuck in the US.

David,

Nope not off at all. I am a former Corporate Exec and currently a Military Officer in the U.S. Army stationed right now in Afghanistan.

So this makes me a Jack of all trades and master of none.

I do forums for fun. Dull huh 🙂 Well really, there are some great reads, the banter can be humorous at times but overall if you have hobby that keeps you out of trouble, why not.

My work in both cases too me across the globe and back.
