Anyone on Web Hosting Pad?

1. They are oversold = servers on high load all the time...
2. The support never admits it's their fault whenever their is a problem, it's always blamed on "someone" abusing the server...
3. They will refuse to move you to a different server if you request it...
4. Because i've probably had a an hour total in downtime since I've been with them which is about 5 months which means 99.9% uptime is total bull...

That's a lot of downtime, especially since they promise 99.9% uptime... and that's probably less then I've actually seen, just an estimate...

And that's just downtime, where my site is completely inaccessible, that's not even counting the countless hours of slowness when it takes 20 minutes to make a forum post and about the same time for cPanel to load...

1: Not true. My server load is usually under 4. Currently it's .44 shared between 8CPUs.

2:Again not true. Every time I have had to contact support they have been more than helpful and have issued credits when they are at fault. They do have problems with people abusing the server and that is most often the problem.

3: True, somewhat. Under special circumstances they will move you.

4: If you calculate it your site would have to be down 7 hours and 45 minutes every month to be down more than 99.9%. (Assuming I calculated correctly myself)

Edit: Even though my site was never completely down for more than 7 hours they still willingly without an argument gave me a full refund for the month.

This isn't a HostGator thread so I won't continue to stay off topic after this. -happy-

1. It depends what server you are on.
2. Yes it is true -😉- no matter what the problem, it's never their fault according to them, it's always a "user" even though for some reason the "user" seems to never be removed from the server...
3. I've asked and they haven't moved me yet -😉-
4. meh, I have NOT had 99.9% uptime, far from it, as I've said, that is only counting when it's completely down, not counting the countless hours of slowness -😉- http://forums.hostgator.com/gator193-pr ... 31467.html

It all depends on which server(s) you are on, some hosts just have some crappy overloaded servers which I happen to be on one, and Fowler can tell you all about that.

Don't get me started on bad hosts and bad servers....

That will increase alot... As you are quite new to hostgator you are on a new server. So what you maybe thinking? That can mean one of 2 things.

1) Your server is not full yet and they are still adding new people to the server so over time load will increase as more and more site get put on.

2) As most sites on your server are new sites (some may have been old sites from different hosts but most are new people making a new site) they won't have alot of traffic although over time all the sites on your server are going to get more an more active aren't they (just like your site) so in a few months there may still be the same number of clients but all the sites are getting more hits as the word has spread more about the sites on the server and the people have finished making their sites and released them. This increase of traffic on all the sites on the server will increase the server load which will then cause the server load to be too high and when you have been on there for a while like MR Bond all the sites will be very active and load would have gone through the roof as most peoples site have grown and are using their fair share of resources. Because of the way hosts work the server would be overloaded if about 10% of clients used their full resource limit. People won't use their full resources when their site is new like the peoples on your server is although a few months down the road some people would be closer to their limits. If you are on an 8cpu server that is a big server and that would mean that there is alot of clients on it so when the all start to get popular it will soon cause load to rise as there is hundreds and hundreds of people on your server.

3. They will refuse to move you to a different server if you request it...

I strongly disagree. On several occasions i have requested a move to a new server and every time they have been more than willing. Host Gator are one of the best host's i've experienced.

I just checked the HostGator plans, and they look good. Cheaper than what I'd be paying with LunarPages. ~lol~

But, since they have you pay on a monthly basis, don't you need to do something special if you use a credit card?

You can pay through PayPal for hostgator, so it automatically withdraws it monthly from your PayPal balance, and if that's empty it will take it from your card ~smile~

Ah, that's what I thought. Do they require that if you use PayPal? (Because I prefer Paypal anyway, since I'm under 18)

Nope. I just pay with PayPal each month. They never verified anything with me. Your credit card can be on PayPal so it just comes from that anyway.

Alright, sounds like they'd make a good host. They'd save me $40, too, so that's a bonus. ~cheesey_grin~
