It's fake, First thing I noticed the sender information lacks the Yahoo! insignia found on all officiall Yahoo! communications. Once inside you'll note that there are a few dumb spelling errors that one would not find in a legitimate Yahoo! Inc. mail, there is also the redundant field mistake that would not made by Yahoo! Inc. There is the request for alternate e-mail address information. Alternate E-mail information is a big issue for two reasons. One if this had been legitimate Yahoo! has no right to any information of that nature if the alternate E-mail is not a Yahoo! account, second if it had been legitimate and any alternate acclunts are held on Yahoo! these alternate accounts would also recieve the E-mail and would be processed from there. One more thing, Of three people in the household holding a Yahoo! mail account I was the only one to recieve it.

Also I have seen a similar scam before on FAC where a user was posing as one of our administrators and claiming that we where going to be processing a mass inactive account removal.

Whatever you do, do not reply with the information thay are asking for.

I've received so many messages and e-mails like that on MSN, Yahoo, and AIM that it's not funny! xD

Anybody can easily spoof e-mails to look like they came from "official" addresses.

I got similar emails not only in my yahoo but also in gmail . Its obvious that they would never ask those details . I feel sorry for the guys who keep trying this outdated process of getting account details ; its simply not gonna work ; people are more aware now !

Sorry cheaters , no success for you ....

Ignore it. I'm pretty sure Yahoo would put Dear Yahoo Users!!! in the title either.

That's not even Yahoo's official domain for behind the scenes work for emails and complaints etc., so don't worry about it.

The way you can tell it's fake is that they always put "Dear first name last name " for official correspondence. Most companies do that now, I think Paypal was the first, to prove that they are the company and they have your info on record.

Did you reported this to yahoo so firstly they can close the person's account who is sending these mail's

but it may be that he is directly sending message from his server not from yahoo mail and using fake mail ID(it's possible).

You will have to confirm your E-mail by filling out your Login Info below after clicking the reply botton, or your account will be suspended within 24 hours for security reasons.

Warning!!! Account owner that refuses to update his or her account before two weeks of receiving this warning will lose his or her account permanently.

Shame the person who sent this didn't keep his threats consistent.

Alternative Email & Password...................

To my knowledge, you are not even required to give an alternative email on Yahoo and you especially would not have given them a password to it on sign up so why would they need it if it was true?

The thing with these are i have yet to even see a remotely realistic one of these emails. All the ones i get are always so obvious due to spelling mistakes, mismatched threats, asking completely irrelevant information, Poor alignment, random "from" email and just common sense when it comes to knowing that the provider will never need this info. I never know why people actually reply to these emails. It should be a test. ISP's and email provders should send out a obvious fake email like this and any people that reply should have their internet cut off. Not only for their own safety but with all the gullible people not using the internet, it means alot of spam emails in general will stop as all the people that fool for them can't access the internet.

I don't get why I should have read this

It is so unprofessional. Yahoo always includes images in their messages, and I can just tell if it is spam.

Fake emails like these can get annoying however just dont be stupid enough to fall for them.

It's like the 419 scammers. It doesn't matter how stupid these things sound, they are being sent to millions of email addresses a day and there will always be someone who believes they need to update their yahoo account, or believe that they have been chosen by the Nigerian Government to help a widow by getting half of her $15 million 😛
