I don't think there's an existing thread for it here, or at least the search function is refusing to show any results. It's sort of like Twitter, but it's more open towards developers and the community is second to none at this point. Or perhaps that's just me...

Are you on App.net? If you're interested in signing up but don't want to throw up $5 for the monthly fees (or at least until you think this platform deserves your money) then you can ask me for invite codes. I don't have a lot currently after inviting many of my friends these past few days, but I'll be sure to give them away once they send me more invites. Currently, I do have a few invite codes to give away, just hit me up and tell me why you want to join - nothing too hard.

You can check the directory here for a list of App.net apps for your Mac, iPhone, Android, etc.

If you're already a member, feel free to share your stream. You can find mine via @inspirasian

What is App.net?
App.net is an ad-free, subscription-based social feed and API. App.net aims to be the backbone of the social web through infrastructure that developers can use to build applications and that members can use for meaningful interactions. App.net launched in August of 2012. It's owned and operated by Mixed Media Labs, founded by CEO Dalton Caldwell and CTO Bryan Berg.

App.net has been generous in giving out invite codes lately and I've basically given out the previous 200 to people I know (that would get a good kick out of this new social network) so the invites that's been given to me on my second account this week is pretty much free for the taking.

Here are some remaining invite codes from my other App.net account.

That's it for now; enjoy the App.net experience.

I went ahead and signed up but I am still confused of what it is. Is it basically a developer social network?
