So, I've had this problem with my MacBook's charger where the end of the wire where it connects to the brick gets all frayed, and it begins to overheat. This is the second time this has happened to me. Both times I had to buy a new cable, and both times Apple had me pay $90 for it.

Does this seem a little bit crazy to you? This must have happened twice in a 6 month period. :S

Twice in a 6 month period? That shouldn't be happening. Go get a consultation at the Bar.

I would just buy one off of Amazon then, they have some pretty epic looking cables that I am pretty sure surpass Apples cord quality. My cousin has one that lights up blue when its plugged in and charging. lol.

Wow, happened twice? There is defineltly a error in the charger. You should go and take it to someone to have a look at it! 🙂

Seems like manufacturer defect. Have you consulted with someone at the Apple store about this? If you are going to purchase a new charger I would try Amazon or eBay I bet it would be cheaper. Do you keep your laptop plugged in all the time? If so, you ought to unplug it once and a while perhaps it won't get fried as often? That does sound odd though. I keep my Macbook Pro plugged to the wall most of the time and I haven't had that issue, yet. *knocks on wood*

Apparently there's no coverage unless your laptop has apple care. 🙁 Mine doesn't. Although, buying the apple care is actually more expensive than two charger cable replacements, so I think I kind of came out on top there. 😛

Apple chargers never last long for me. They always bend and begin to fray at the end where they connect to my device. I can usually get 3 months out of one.

$90!? That's a lot for a charger seems a bit ridiculous to me. If they want you to pay that much they should at least be made to let you get a years or so worth out of it.
