I can only see this justifiable for fitness and health where $3-4k for equipment isn't too high. But for most consumers, I would never imagine spending that kind of money for AR.

My girlfriend would kill me if I dropped thousands of dollars on this, but it will be tempting.
It's interesting, but it's way out of my price range. It'd take me a bit to pay it all off! I'll just wait a little bit until a new model comes out and then this product may be a bit cheaper after that. 
I waited to get a iPhone for the longest time because apple products have always been a bit pricey.
