Last year members of FP voted to make April 7th Global Forum Day!​


That day is coming up soon so make plans now on how you'd like to celebrate on your own forums. If you wish to use the graphics that Katrina created for this special event, we will be providing those in different sizes for banners and social media, and if you end up using at least one, we'll give you 50 FP$ (one time).

This will be an annual event and hopefully over time we'll get forums involved that aren't connected to FP. The goal is to have some awareness for forums and keep them alive.

Let's hear your ideas on how to make Global Forum Day on April 7 even better?

Global Forum Day?!

Are there any additional graphics other than the ones above available to promote this? I help to run a semi-large forum (that I don't promote as it's for a private work purpose), but one of my duties will involve a "revamp" and "soft relaunch" of the forum soon, and Global Forum Day might just be a basis to do that upon if we have some awesome graphics available.... our website gets over 1m visits a year, so maybe we could in a small way help to boost the popularity of forums once again. 🙂

I'll update my OP with the graphics that I've made for the event and they'll be through Imgur since when we upload images, FP converts them to webp and the quality gets lost.
 
I can't wait for global forum day! Seems like long ago we decided on the date, but it's just around the corner now! I'm going to use one of the banners in my signature over on Sonic Retro, I want to branch out to other forums that aren't aware of Forum Promotion. 🙂
 
I'll be posting on Facebook because maybe it will encourage some people that used to be on forums to return to one... any one!

Last year we had a poll for members of FP to vote for this new holiday. We're going to make it an annual thing because it's good to get people to recognize that forums aren't dead and that forums are global.

I've made friends throughout the world because of forums. When I had my first cancer surgery, my doctor told me to get my affairs in order and say my goodbyes just in case. I made sure my husband knew to let my online friends know if I didn't make it through, because those friends are very important to me. And I hope I'm important to them too.

So this is a holiday. All holidays have a start, so April 7, 2025 is going to be our start.

Very much this. It might be a "made up" day, but it's our day, a celebration of what forums mean to those of us who use them, support them, embrace them. Whether you're new to them or been using them for nearly 30 years like I have, forums offer us a platform of communication that few other means of communication can match. So we celebrate that.
 
All "International" days are made up. For instance, a group of people decided that March 8 will be International Women's Day, March 22 will be World Water Day, April 22 will be Earth Day, and so on. Rest of the world accepted it and now these days that were created by few people are international days. So, why not Global Forum Day?
I think you need to partner with other "big forums" to popularize this concept.

That's what we're looking to do, get as many forums on board as possible to celebrate our common love of forums.

I wasn’t sure if it was a FP idea or taken from someplace official. I didn’t intend to belittle the idea.

Especially those religious one, eh? 😉 Most have the backing of some organisation or government body or whatever to make them official

Sorry for the confusion. I struggle with memory problems and I make mistakes after my 3 cancer surgeries.

I know a couple of people who are on staff at a bigger forum and will reach out to them to see if they want to announce Global Forum Day there. I think that if I'm not already on big forums that they don't take new accounts seriously, so if anyone here is on the big forums, drop them a note of the day?
 
That is one more reason for the special feeling I have on that day!

1. Its my birthday (Do wish me)
2. Its the World Health Day (Professionally connected, since I am a doctor by profession, though I dont practice anymore)
3. Its World Forum Day! (I'll put a status <3)
4. Its my best friends birthday (12 years and strong! 😀)
