What did your forum do for April Fools days? ๐Ÿ˜€

On Feedback Exchange, we changed the forum's name for a day to Cherikee Exchange, which is an inside joke of ours referencing the drink Cherikee Red. ๐Ÿ˜›

Here's the fake logo we put up:

As you may have already noticed, Forum Promotion put up a fake MCP. ๐Ÿ˜›

I took a look at GamingForce (Hi Demon_Skeith) and roughly recreated their skin (I purposefully did things a bit different to create some visual distinction) but I kept their name/logo.

I chose GamingForce because:
1- I know DS and he's pretty cool so I didn't think it would bother him if I recreated his site's theme. (I imagine he would have given me the CSS and images had I asked, but I didn't want to do that since it'd kinda ruin the surprise and fun of it. Plus I wanted to make it look slightly different just to give visual clues. See the second spoiler tag.)

2- I had a good idea he'd play along.

3- GamingForce has a pretty cool looking skin.

4- Given our sites fairly close relationships (we're on each other's site, we've helped each other out, we're affiliates, etc...) it wouldn't be that unbelievable that one day (only if it were absolutely necessary of course) that I sold my site to DS. (Not going to lie, DS is one of the few I would consider selling to simply because I know how hard he works for his own site. )

In the templates there were a few spots which referred to our site by name, I changed them to their site. (I also was sure to link to their site in the credits section of the sidebar. )

Then I posted an announcement that DS had purchased our site and he was the new admin (I had also set his account to display as admin, even though he was only in the member group. He didn't actually have staff powers.)

For comparison sake, here's screenshots of the two sites to show how similar the skins are:

Sure by viewing them so closely you can definitely tell they aren't identical themes. There are numerous differences. But without doing that, my replica might be close enough to pass.

Additionally, the screencaps were taken after the prank was over so I changed a few things back to normal in the templates, like restoring our site's name in places.

My partner decided it would be funny to pretend she sold out the forum without consulting me. lol

One of my admins changed the avatars of our most active members to a random face for April Fools. Eh... Not really a big fan of this holiday...

@VirusZero: Wow. I think you have me beat in terms of effort. ๐Ÿ˜› Sounds like a lot of fun! ๐Ÿ˜€

@Sharon: Wow. ๐Ÿ˜›

@alakazam: Oh. Hope the member wasn't annoyed too much. ๐Ÿ˜›

It's our favorite holiday at Forces of Steel!

This year, some of the staff members masqueraded as religious zealots to generate some amusing "drama" with our members. Because we're a music forum, it was the perfect platform to come and do our "preaching". The members had fun.

I would be PISSED if someone had done that to me for real. I love my forum and wouldn't sell it for anything! I'm not a fan of April fools jokes on forums because not everyone understands online sarcasm, and I myself don't always do online pranks that well, so out of respect for other sensitive members as well as myself, I have not now nor will I ever play pranks on my members.

Oh, that's an interesting point of view that I haven't thought of before. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Would you still be upset if when the prank over they posted an explanation or if they hinted at it beforehand (not exactly saying what would be done, but hinting at the possibility of a prank)? Or, telling members that the might not want to visit the forum that day if they don't like pranks? What part about pranks do you not like?

I've just never been a fan of online pranks in general. I suppose if someone "hinted: about a possible prank, then I might be ok, but really, in terms of playing panks on others is really about respect for me.

I changed my forum's name to Pojo (inside joke), and "hired a moderator" by the name of WildWill (another inside joke).
