Backlinks used to be one of the biggest factors in SEO. With all the updates to search algorithms, do you think they're still as important as they used to be?

Backlinks are still important for SEO, but they’re not as powerful as they used to be on their own. Search engines now focus more on quality rather than quantity. A few strong, relevant backlinks from trusted websites can help a lot, but hundreds of low-quality links don’t have the same effect anymore.

Today, SEO also depends heavily on good content, user experience, and site performance, so backlinks are just one part of the overall ranking factors, not the main one like they were years ago.

No, backlinks are still important factor in the ranking factor of the search engines. However, it boils down the quality of these backlinks as well.

I don't think they'll ever be a day when they'll become obsolete though. They're still a vital part of the search engines ranking structure.

If you want to rank on searches, backlinks are important. You need a lot of backlinks from authority sites
