Are cloud based Anti-virus like Immunet protect and Panda Cloud Anti-virus good anti-viruses for protecting a computer?

They look like good anti-virus programs for PCs that are slow like slower Netbooks/laptops, and older computers, but If I lose my internet connection then my PC is not protected because it is not connected to the clouds anymore.

Before now I hadn't heard of something like this... though I imagine that it would do wonders for XP computers with a 100MB line >.>

However like you said, if your connection goes down (or the virus disables it) you're done for.

I agree Leo, you should try getting an antivirus which isn't cloud based, as you won't need internet for protection. I'm not sure if there is anything wrong with cloud virus scanners, but I suggest not to get Cloud based anti-virus.

I like your point on the Virus disabling the internet. I haven't thought of that. I think I just stick with Avast Free Anti-virus. Although, I heard Immunet can be installed along side with any anti-virus and won't cause problems for your main anti-virus.

That is a good point, but not many viruses do that unless you get very serious ones which are quite hard to get and you probably would only get them if you are "looking" for them. Hence I beg to differ that they will be fine because if you lose internet connection as long as you don't have a virus you would be fine because you obviously wont give yourself a virus and if you don't have your connection up and running there would be no actual need for a anti virus software 😛.

Very good point the main reason most people need Anti-Viruses is to protect themselves from Trojans and other nasty programs found online.

Though, people can still get viruses from floppy disks, CD-rom and flash drive, but it is a rare way to get infected thesedays unless you have an enemy/prankster who wants to infect your PC.
