Hey,
I really love what I do but the question is whether I can make it more then a hobby, Someone on Facebook said “he does not know why I still use forums and that I’m a poxy person”

What does everyone think? Is it still worth running a forum in 2021?

I prefer forums over Facebook honestly and I agree.

I don’t know why many still insist that they’re dead. This guy got verbally abusive.
I agree with you. I occasionally get on Facebook but there’s something about forums that I prefer over any other type of social media platform. It’s too easy for my post or reply to get lost in Facebook. I feel like conversations are generally better on forums.

same here, I get on it twice a day but forums are still a lot better in my opinion.

He started saying “how deluded I am for owning a forum” I’ve banned him since he started getting disrespectful towards me.

If your deluded for owning a “dead” forum, how delusional is he for joining?

People do not want to signup on forums. That is one big hurdle. We can allow sign in using Gmail, FB, Twitter etc. But wise people tend not to trust it.

If we allow guest posting, that is too much trouble.

It is better not to care much about off-topic. Easier to stick with discussions about the forum theme. I normally try to ignore everything else.

You are extremely right about that, Some people do not make sense, Like why view it if you dislike it so much? 😂🥴

That’s the issue, no one cares to sign up on forums anymore unless you’ve got a special app that they can download but with most forums there’s no app.

When I had told my husband last year I was going to start another forum (been 15 some years since the last one), his reaction was: They still have those? lol When someone is coming off of social media, they get extremely intimidated by how 'big' a forum is. Instead of just scrolling one post at a time & their replies, you have them separated into smaller boards. I honestly don't know why people don't like forums as much anymore. Subjects are organized so much better. Intros in one, pets in another, etc.
To answer your question, is it worth it? Yes! There are a lot of us who are Team Forum. They won't die off if we don't let them & help each other out 🙂

I could not agree with you more, Not only that but everyone in one community can come together unlike Facebook where everything is scattered.

I'm having a lot harder time getting my current site off the ground than on past sites. It's not impossible, but it's no longer easy either
you're a decade ago I use to own a forum called DSiRage I almost found success but due to life issues at the time I could not longer sustain it, but forums are more then alive, and people that think otherwise have no clue since Twitter has a forum.

I think that's why a lot of us do Post Exchanges. When I had my forum years ago, most of my members didn't have their own forum. Now, the majority do.

I gained a few members here on FP, I have made a feed system that no one knows about so I try to build on that more for my site.

and post exchange definitely helps!

If you and many other people have to ask if forums are dead then they are probably dead
