I don't think forums die out, but it looks like it. They change, now forums get more complicated, more for other things than just general conversation. Forums start to become more and more specific and with it the communities more narrow. So forums are in a way going to their end, but that doesn't mean a certain death but more of an evolution of the standard discussion board to a thing that connects you easier to the things you need.

So all in all, forums are still alive, and will be, at least those that are worked on and kept active by their community.

Forums in general at least ones that are currently large are far from dying, but as for newer forums and such. The genre of foruming is dying at least from my prospective of being around other places on the internet. Primary reason for this is simply due to social networking and the large change in how people want to communicate. People are falling more in love with more instantaneous form of communication. If you look at the internet now compared to long period of time ago people were less socialized compared to now where we have Twitter, live streaming (Twitch and Youtube), Facebook and Live chats (Discord). I have seen some forums starting to adapt to such changes and forums in general have dropped a ton in activity compared to lets say 8 to 10 years ago. Will they completely die out? Probably not ever because there will always be a use for them, but I believe the prime forums used to serve have died out a long time ago and other platforms have taken its place since forums can't meet the standard of modernized communication.

Nope! Forums are still a great resource to check for reliable and accurate information, they're just harder to grow, but when they do grow, they can be just as active as any IM/social media group! I tend to research a community forum before asking on social media since people on forums are almost specialists in their subjects and are more likely to help out better.

Forums seem to take a lot of memory. However, looking on DigitalPoint.com, people still want forum posters so there must still be a lot around. Anyhow, I think blogs also take up as much memory. Do they?

When I ask if forums are dying a slow death folks, I don't mean they are completely becoming extinct, I just mean I think they have had a huge drop in use since the arrival of social media like fb & Twitter!

I myself have noticed a huge drop in demand for and use of forums, I don't mean nobody will ever use them ever again lol.
