I Also Recomends Zaborgs Thread Aswill

I have seen many of these threads About Forums Are Dieing Or Social Networking Is taking over
Will I have Created A Poll What do you think?

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=77460 My thread he mentioned. 😀 Thanks for that.

I voted for "Just Be Unique & You be Right". I believe it is possible to success with a forum, you just need to work hard and that is what I am going to do (well I have already worked hard so far, but I'll push it even further).
And you need great friends and great staff members 🙂

The average person usually doesn't go on forums, just social networking, IM, etc. Their not going to die out from people like us but soon the majority of people who are coming, will not use forums.

I'm going to say no.

The generation of people who used to be on forums when they were young a few years ago have jobs etc but new web masters are appearing. It depends what forums you look at too though 😉

I agree users can be part on then one community (Facebook & Forums)

I'll quote myself:
Yes and no. Yes, I agree with you that social networks dominate the Internet. No because they don't provide long discussion, especially on niche topics. Could you make this "thread" on Facebook and get people responding efficiently, with long answers? Could you go on Twitter and discuss domain names, whereas on Digitalpoint, it would be with ease?
I don't believe the two are really that comparable if you consider the aims/purposes of each.

Yes,Forums and social networks have different purposes

No, they're not killing forums.

Forums allow users to gather around a subject of mutual interest - not something Facebook or Twitter can really do. Sure, with Facebook, you have groups/fan pages, and with Twitter, you've got hashtags, but as David pointed out above - they simply don't provide the long quality discussions that people are looking for.

Somewhat they are since people are so addicted to facebook and such, they dont spend time looking for other sites such as forums.

Forums can be considered "dying out" when big name software developers like IPS, phpBB, MyBB, vBulletin and XenForo stop producing updates to their products. Once all of these companies start to go under (vBulletin already on it's way 😛) then you can say that forums are dying out 🙂

Yeah,Mybb is still going strong and is on the way to bring Mybb2 I say we still have another 10 Years Before they die

I may be biased... but, no. People are just playing with social media 'toys' at the moment but once they finally realise they're being lost in the noise, they'll be back. 😉

Yeah,Facrbook has only been around since 2003/4 that can die out anytime but forums have been going around since 19080,s

I'm more inclined to say that social networks are keeping the next generation from discovering forums.

Eh, forums will just become like usenet. Not completely dead, some people will still use them, but nowhere near as popular as they used to be.

Yeah,Thastw hy im moving to make my social networking but the biggest compitter is facebook lol
