Are gaming computer really that much better than consoles? Is it because you can upgrade them or what is it really?

The added functions of a computer makes them better. Your gaming console are made just for that purpose, with a computer you can study too!

By a long road ahead. Then again if you were to spend under $800 for a gaming PC then you might as well get a console since you be better off 😉

The console has improved and offering good specs and whatnot and able to support VR and 4K however what you get is what you are stuck with. PC gaming offers you far more options than what you want as hardware goes and offers far more ways to get your gaming to the next level. Just expect to pay £2500 or more to get a good gaming rig. GPU will cost you the most more than anything.

I remember that CPU was the most expensive back 10 years ago, now it's not. The cheapest is your case, PSU and storage. Motherboards can be cheap but my motherboard cost me over £280 and CPU is £340 and GPU looking at £500 or in my case I love to have RTX 3080 and that's £800

Now is not a good time for PC Gaming due to this pandemic thing that closed lots of industries and also the materials are more expensive. But cryptocurrency is killing the GPU market, they need to stop.

The GPU market is stuck at the moment, it's so bad that the secondhand market for cards is going out fast. But all in all, I hear that they are making or considering getting GTX 1080TIs back in the market.

I own a gaming PC at the moment and have owned a console in the past and from personal experience I would much rather game on a console. It’s much less hassle and cheaper.

what's your pc specs?

what's your pc specs?
I have a Ryzen 5 2600X Processor and a GTX 1660 GPU. I wasn’t referring to the quality of gaming though, it’s fine for me, but all the hassle with peripherals and such is quite annoying. Just personal preference I guess.

not bad system can do most games anyway,

For the simple goal of playing video games, consoles have to be given the win as they are by far the best price to performance and also come with that amazing "it just works" ability when it comes to playing games. Install the game, play the game, everything is super simple and works great.

Now, is a $1000+ gaming PC better than a Console, yes it is. It is a $1000 PC that can play games as well or better than the console and also have the almost endless abilities of a high spec PC. However, even at this price point, you may end up with more technical issues with games then any console user is going to run into.

I've never played a video game on a computer. I've always been a console gamer.

I think a computer can slow down more over time, more so than a console, so I don't know about a gaming computer.

Yes, I do consider them better than gaming consoles because not only can you play games in it, but you can do much more with it as it is a computer.

This is same reason why I prefer computers. I always love to do different things at same time, so computers help me achieve that.

VR tends to be a huge reason to own a gaming computer. While Xbox hasn't even released their AR (augmented reality) hololens, which they aren't even going full VR so it's quite sad. PS4 being the only console with one and then Nintendo releasing their cheap Nintendo Labo VR, to be honest PC gaming took a huge step up when they came out with their $800 VR headset. I forgot what it's called but it's supposed to be the best one. So many VR compatible games on PC. If you didn't own a gaming computer you should for that reason. Personally I don't even own one because I haven't had the money but really want to invest some in getting one soon.

I also wanted to mention that on a budget the best VR available is something that's cross PC and is also usable standalone if you don't have a gaming PC. It's called the Oculus Quest too for $300-400 and I plan on getting one soon. For lower spec PCs you can get that one. Apparently next-gen reality graphics and the ability to play PC compatible games as a choice thing.

Console gaming tends to be the best if you like to play on high definition TVs instead of a monitor even though there are amazing quality monitors out there. So I have to say I prefer both but I just have an Xbox Series X which is my baby but it's all I have until I can afford a PC.

Exactly the opposite with me 😆. From the college days, I used to play games on my PC. I actually don't feel comfortable with joysticks, keyboard suits me better.

And you are correct, playing games on PC will eventually slow it down with time. You must use high end graphics card for that purpose.

The versatility of PC's are higher than consoles. For the simple concept if a component stops working, you can at least replace it and not the entire unit.

Besides, I use my computer for other things besides gaming. I have the console for my gaming needs.

Performance wise? Probably, if you consider the top-end gaming computers. But for me, consoles are better just because they are a lot more convenient for gaming. I can just choose a game and know I can play it without having to worry about specs.

Depends on the individual's preferences. Some prefer higher-end gaming and ability to customize specs / use mouse & keyboard. Others - such as myself, prefer the convenience and portability of a console.

Really just depends on what you want to play and how much you invest in the computer. You get a high end computer then I would definitely say it is worth it more for the PC then a console.
