Are "personal blogs" less popular because of Facebook?

I'm not sure since I don't really follow people's personal blogs unless they are people I find interesting like actors, musicians, and artists which I enjoy.

I rarely hear of any of my friends and family having personal blogs and websites these days, but most of them have Facebook accounts for sharing their lives with their circle of friends and family.

I feel with Facebook you can easily share photos, videos, contact information, and stories from your personal life, and get more people's attention to read, view, and comment on photo, videos, rants about your life compared to starting a WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, or other type of blog about your "Personal life, and what you are doing now".

If you just want attention online, it would be a lot easier to upload tons of images, articles and videos from your daily life, and send a ton of friend requests to strangers, friends, co-workers, class mates, and family on Facebook rather then buying a domain to start a blog and waiting for traffic to come in via search engines, direct and refferal traffic which can take months or even years in some cases.

I've never been into blogging OR facebook, so I honestly don't know. If you do blog searches though (I had a blog for a website class) they seem to still be strong. Many blogs get a TON of comments and traffic too. Plus, blogs seem to appear fairly quickly on Google.

Because I've never been real big on blogs, though, I have nothing to judge this by.

My blogs gets very little comments, and some traffic. It seems most of the online and offline celebrities like Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher, iJustine, Perez Hilton, Miley Cyrus, etc are using social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Myspace to share their personal life with fans ;however, most social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, etc have some sort of a blogging or wall feature for them to share their thoughts with the world easily.

I have some friends who don't have Facebook, so the only way to keep in touch with them easily is to read their blog.

I think if you have Facebook there's not really a point to making a blog, unless you have alot of family without Facebook.
