I know all people are flawed, and have their own biases, but when I scroll through my Facebook pages, and look at posts, my observation is that people who tend to be very liberal, who preach tolerance for everything, do not tolerate people with differing opinions. And I don't understand why they don't see this as hypocrisy.
Well, conservatives differ in intolerance. If liberals were disgusted with certain conservatives that would be understandable.
You are totally right. Some religious people are bigots and hypocrite in all their dealings with people. Most of them do not practice what they preaches to people. What they do behind close doors is far worst than the people they called unbelievers. I don't let anybody to deceive me about their ways of life.

Not referring to anyone that worship or believe in God. The religious people I was referring to were extremists who doesn't see anything good in what other people does outside their own believes and what they think is right or wrong judging by their own standard.
Yes, I do believe that a lot of religious people are more bigoted. It doesn't apply to every religious person, being whether they're Christian, Muslim, or Hindu. Some people are really set in their ways.

Speaking as one who is religious myself, I have seen examples of bigotry and intolerance from people in all walks of life and all beliefs and professions. It's especially upsetting when it's coming from one's own in-group. What's important to remember is that, with a few notable exceptions, those people are in the minority, so we shouldn't be quick to draw conclusions based on their example.
Of course, an equally valid and important point: groups tend to reinforce group behavior, and so can magnify the negative aspects of the individual's personality. So another thing to remember is that while we may be in groups ourselves (as we are social beings), we should always remember to exercise our individual instincts in a way that respects the intellect and whole person of others.
