I think signature advertisements work when there is less crowding. I see a lot of signatures with so much overcrowding that I think that these are not working anymore. What do you think?

I tend to be also the size of the banner images that they add on there sig. Does it put you off with very large images?

I also like moving Gif then still JPEG as it caches your eyes

I don't see signatures, I've turned them off because they clutter posts in my opinion.

I think text links are okay, but anything else is just distracting for a forum.

what do you think of an size of 729x90?

Even still, any image advertising in signatures is a no-no for me. I just find it distracts from the post content. I've no problem with people using images in signatures. I just prefer to turn signatures off. That way I can focus on content.

Signature links do not work much expect for some random clicks. They are just helpful to know your website and identity in the forum. Rather advertising posts help to generate traffic from the market place.

Image signatures are mostly distracting simple primary text signature with link to primary domain works great..

I may have to look into making a banner. Either way, I hope mine is working! I want people to use my site!

I don't think they really work, besides possibly making the name of your site more known. In my experience, I have gotten very few hits to my site from signature links and my signature is certainly not crowded. I've also tested it with various types of links, whether it be image links or text links, and have noticed little change.

I don't know about that. Your sig stuck out to me, in addition it made me visit your site, and possibly think about that backlink. lol

Your sig goes well with the FP theme 😛 it's not off-putting

My personal experience, Yes signature advertising are working on forums, It will give us a good backlink for our website that improves ranking of our website.

This reminds me of that skit on Waynes World (the movie) where they were talking about selling out, all the while advertising stuff while they were saying it. :wideyed:

Oh, by the way, banner ads look cool and all, but they're tough on people with certain internet plans (low allowance of daily bandwidth). It gets eat up fast when browsing forums. However, one way to get around it is to just go to a public library and use their bandwidth. 🙂

Signature ads do bring in some members/traffic from time to time, but that's not the sole purpose of them. I also build my signature links for backlinks in google to help me rank. I'm just getting back into link building.

Signature os what gives me backlinks 🙂 Just from FP I'm getting over 3K backlinks

I don't think it really works that well, but it helps get the name of the site out there. If you're able to make friends with users on a site, they'll be able to click the link to your site and that'll help and maybe they'll tell their friends. Doesn't seem to happen very often these days though, so it's not going so well for me. At least it's getting the name of my site out there, and that's a plus.

I tend to get 3-5 clicks a day through my signature on FP, and it results in about 90% of the registrations we get from here. So I'd say it's decently effective, and certainly more effective than maintaining a promotion topic.
