ok, they have been deleted anyways 😛

ill add q & a

I have been getting similar bots, 15 pages a day. They have filled out our custom fields. Have set our forum to admin activation, so at least they aren't posting all over the forum.

This might be something to do with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XRumer

i say we all post a list of bots ips and emails so we can ban them from all our forums

ah ok thanks i banned the ip then deleted them this time. dont want incorrect stats on my forum.

Download the KeyCAPTCHA plugin from the phpBB database and install and configure it. I have been using it for a couple months and it has eliminated all spam bots from registering.

LOL i deleted them and they reregistered

Code:
Name: Sluccultwet
IP: 218.93.205.112
Email: [email protected]

I got yelled at for this by my tech admin once when I had Chatting Time. You NEVER delete their accounts. Simply ban and deactivate, and by doing that they won't be able to reregister. That's one lesson I wound up learning the hard way.

There kinda is already a list that is updated by loads of sources - http://www.stopforumspam.com/
Definitely use this.
However, don't ever restrict people by IP. Don't ever ban by IP either. IP's renew randomly and thus you could ban a spammer one month and then the next month be banning a normal (and potentially great member) person.

StopForumSpam is an amazing plugin & database, but avoid their IP settings for sure.
