Traditions can be very valuable because they help keep culture, history, and shared values alive. They often bring people together and give communities a sense of identity and belonging. At the same time, some traditions can hold society back if people follow them without questioning whether they still make sense today.
In many cases, the best approach is to respect traditions while also being open to change when needed. This allows society to keep what is meaningful while still moving forward.
I think that traditional rituals provide some sort of predictability for some significant events in life. And that is very good for stability of the society.
I think for the most part traditions are important, they help foster a sense of identity and inclusion. Without them we just have shades of grey. Imagine visiting another country only to find everything is a carbon copy of your home country.
There are certain traditions that are backwards and tend to hold back a society. But traditions that define the identity of a people are very necessary and should not be tampered with.
The bad side of tradition that I feel is the aspect that it is holding society back is when traditions is set so that it can't be questioned, even when it is harmful or outdated. Traditions that demand blind obedience holds society back.
