Are you interested in being Community of the Month?

We're going to be experimenting to see if a new process works for our Community of the Month. There will still be a poll, but we won't be accepting submissions as we've done in the past.

Next month's poll will include sites that have added a new item in the Promotion Directory, made an Update in their Promotion Directory item, or posted information about their site in the Promotion Directory Discussion within the month of September. Merely Bumping will not get you included.

The poll will be month long! Here is the LINK to the poll.

The Community of the Month winner gets their site Featured under the Community Billboard on the index page, as well as having their Promotion Directory Discussion stickied.

I love the idea! Sick of seeing the same way of doing it as all forums do it the same way nowadays. It's good to see some unique way of doing it.

Sounds pretty good. Hopefully that gives more communities a chance to get the spotlight.
Is there ATM any parameters about not being CotM X times in a row? Sorry, it's been a while, but if there aren't I'd like to suggest it, in order to have more opportunities for the spot light for the new and raising stars.

Yes, we have had it to where a person/site cannot have CoTM for two months, but we're thinking of extending that to at least 3, maybe even more.

Great to hear! If it's anything like I remember then I would definitely agree to do it at at least 3 months. Specially if it's more than 2 usually fighting for the top. To be honest, I would be fine with up to 6 month cool down, because I think being community of the month twice a year is a pretty good brag. :bluesquaretongue:

I agree with that and it gives a chance for newer communities to have a chance. Even once a year you would still definitely get 12 different sites in a year.

That would be good because I've seen people vote for their buddies time and time again.

Does anyone even remember why was that changed?

Personally, I liked it when we had 2 CotM......one for forums and the other for blogs/websites.
I think that would be nice to re-implement if there's enough activity of both kind of content.
It levels the field a bit more being paired with similar type of projects.

We'd have to do some research. It's possible that there weren't many blogs anymore and the same people were winning every other month?

We had FOTM and BOTM for the longest time. COTM was created to merge the two, as there were very few BOTM entries.

Seems odd to exclude bumps. If the forum owner are actively trying to promote their site by bumping their advert thread then that means the community is alive and worthy of being voted on. At least that's my opinion. Its not like there are thousands of forum owners bumping their sites here these days. There's just a handful (a shrinking handful at that).

Saying Bump is generally frowned upon on FP. We'd like some content. 🙂
