Rich Snippets are those little things you get when you drop a link down into Discord, Twitter, Facebook, etc. and it seems like some forum platforms like XenForo, IPB and Discourse have adopted it as-well.

Unfortunately, it seems that the upcoming Article 11 may end up banning these for commercial sites, as the alternative is to pay a toll to every site that you link to which is obviously intractable. This will likely have a negative effect on incoming traffic to sites going forward.

I honestly hate hearing about Article 13, 11 and 12. The internet should be a place for freedom, not a place for the government to sue you and take all of the money out of a company's wallet just because a piece of copyrighted content got posted.

(Youtubes gonna have a great time if they get approved.)

YouTube is probably going to sic the AI on everyone.

If you think it's bad enough that it mistakes bird calls as music, flags videos with just someone talking and has no care for fair use, then you'll find out how bad things can really get.
