Does article marketing still work well for seo? I've read that it doesn't work as good as it once used to. I ran some articles and got barely any traffic or rankings after having spent a fair bit of money.

I agree with Jannatul. It's just as easy/hard to find articles on your blog as it is on some of those article warehouses. Easier is my guess because many of them have the same content over and over. But moreso, you want to develop a following of readers on your own site.
