Do you think machines will take over humans eventually?

  • Yes! We need to restrict their IQ so they will not rebel.

After so many movies and scientist warned us, there are still scientists trying to make their machines smart as so to speak.....

Do you think machines will take over humans eventually?

Many people believe so, but it is not possible with the level of technology that we have today. We would have to discover how to create life, and if we did, then we would be replacing ourselves with more life forms, so it isn't really a mechanical take-over.

To accomplish speech, the scientists use advanced microphones that are incredibly sensitive to sound in relation to speech. They can then form a database, whether it be external or not, for the machine to have a list of responses.

I think they are trying to form a response generator to accomplish this, meaning the robot says certain things as it relates to whatever it just heard you talking about.

How they could do that, I have no idea, but when they try to make it think, it will all be controlled ideas. You wouldn't be able to program it to have ideas for you since it knows only what you do. Nothing close to an "all-conquering" program is even a submissive idea.

It doesn't need an all conquering program to rebel. I think when machines evolve faster than us, we will lose fair and square. I think as long as we the masters we better don't created intelligence machines.

WE MUST BE THE MASTERS!

Pretty true comment above, our lives are dominated by computers/machines.

Anyway i think soon it could happen, i mean there's scientists building robots which learn by themselves tell me that aint creepy.

Hell they could turn off water cleansing plants, power plants, the national grid, even my kettle! The thought of going through a day without a nice warm cuppa' is unthinkable. We live off machines and I highly doubt there would be an AI take over, we program machines, chips, appliances, software, hardware etc. so we would obviously place parameters and limitations on AI in the future.

Ah but i have heard within somewhere of the next 50 years we won't be able to programme computers anymore. This is because computers will be made with photonic crystals, this will mean that computers won't have the old circuitry but will pass signals as light. This will mean faster computers but something we wouldn't be able to programme, we would have to build machines to do this. Also they are building computers with neural senses, so they 'think'. The world taken over by machines may not happen till 100 or maybe 1000 years in the future but i think it could still happen.

Well we would have the machines programme parameters in them, there will always be limitations upon what a machine can do (if it is possible for it be 'overcome humans') to ensure security and less chance of it breaking out and sending trojans to my kettle. If there isn't then the human race could be in trouble.

EDIT: Bottom line - If porn website servers keep on running and providing me entertainment, I'm a happy man!

I voted no. Machines lack at least one thing that people have which allows us to rule. Free Will

Machines will change and become better and more complex and so will humans. But machines will not take over as they do not have imagination or feelings which they would need to take over.

No not really. I dont care how smart we make them we can always program them to obey us and unlike in the movies the machines will not become so smart were they can bypass a rule or something, its just not going to happen.
