Ask me anything (zappaDPJ)

What's something you wish you could experience for the first time all over again?

into playing music?
In terms of listening? Yeah, probably 8-12 hours a day, everyday.

Right now I'm listening to a lot of Charley Crockett who has the most incredible voice.

What are some street smarts everyone should know?
  • Don't trust anyone, especially law enforcement if you live in the UK.
  • Try and stay in a group even if it's only a group of two.
  • Keep your mobile phone hidden from view.
  • Carry a rape alarm.
  • Learn how to use your house keys as a defensive weapon.
  • Try not to be too paranoid, not everyone is out to get you. Probably.

What were you last angry about?
I generally don't get angry but I got a little annoyed at myself a week or two ago when I managed to lock myself out of my house even though I had my house keys with me 🙄

As it was late at night and I live in quite a remote area. It cost me £500/$650 to have a locksmith drill the old lock out and fit a replacement.

What's the most beautiful place you've ever been to?
A place called Puzzle Wood in the Forest of Dean (UK). If ever there was a place you could describe as magical, this is it.

What's your favorite midnight snack?
I never eat after my evening meal but I have been known to drink a large glass of Islay malt whiskey!

What was your first job?
I used to buy newspapers from a wholesaler and sell them on a station platform when I was eleven.

The first job I had after leaving school (one of only two) was to create a master from which sheet music could be printed. That usually involved listening to a tape or early pressing of a record, transposing what I heard into written words and music, and then create the art work by hand using rOtring pens and letraset sheets.

Do you think life would be better without social media? If so why?
I think life would be a better for a fairly large number of people who are too heavily invested in social media.

Anything done to excess is bad for you including social media. The ability to hide behind an alias brings out the worst in some people. That can be very damaging mentally to others which sometimes leads to serious physical harm.

I wouldn't argue against social media but everyone needs to take a balanced approach to it and not let it dominate their lives.
