Not that there's anything particularly interesting to know about me, but I thought I'd jump in on the trend just in case anyone wanted to know anything. Feel free 🙂

Initially, I'm not sure. I've been lurking for a few years at this point, so I've always sort of known about FP and kept tabs on it, but I didn't join until very recently, thanks to a post on a different site from @ozzy47 that convinced me that, yeah, why not? Sign up and take part.

Where'd your username originate?
The PGen stems from a website I used to run, PlatinumGeneration, owned it for a good 15 years or so. I started using the name PGen98 on support sites and it just sort of stuck with me ever since. The site's gone, but the name remains 🙂.

The 98 has been a part of my usernames for a lot longer. When I first moved to the US I started watching ice hockey for the first time, and naturally, being younger, gravitated towards the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, because of the movies, and quickly became a fan of two players, Paul Kariya (#9) and Teemu Selanne (#8), so when I first started signing up for sites every name had 98 at the end as a sort of tribute to them. I moved away from the Ducks, but kept the 98 😀

So, long convoluted answer shrunken down, PGen98 = website plus tandem of hockey players 😀

Do you run and own forums/blogs or any sites?
I've run dozens over the years, my own and for others. I'm down to just one small forum at the moment of my own, and it's for a group of people who all met on the website of a YouTuber and happen to all enjoy hockey. So just one small forum right now, but I help out with a fair few others.

Also used to run the community side of one of the largest gaming sites of its' time, GameWinners.com, that was fun!

What do you like to do offline?
There's an offline?

Just kidding, I'm actually a full time caregiver to my mother, who has dementia, so I spend my days looking after her and making sure she's ok. I quit my job as a Java programmer to look after her, did it for free for about four years and then this past October found out there are agencies that'll certify you and pay you, so...now I make a very small wage for doing what I've done now for five years. She's my mother, she raised me, so it's only right to give back to her now that she needs it 🙂. When I have "me" time, I like to read, currently collecting Tolkien's works, and I'm also a video game collector. Beyond that I mostly spend time following my hometown Bolton Wanderers football club or the Dallas Stars of the NHL. Keeps me going during my downtime 🙂

Interesting!

Why did you move to the U.S.?
My dad's work relocated him to California, so my mum decided to move us out permanently and that's where we've been ever since 🙂

@PGen98 That is sweet you take care of your mom. I'm very close to my parents & will do anything to help them out.

Where do you live now & how long have you lived there?

Phoenix, Arizona. In this current house we've been here for about 3 years, but in Arizona we've been here since 2001 in various parts 🙂

What's your favourite Fourm Software
Of all time? vBulletin 2 or 3, possibly 2, it holds a little more nostalgic value to me. Of the current offerings, Xenforo, I love it, it's exactly what I need in a forum software package. I don't dislike IPB/C/S/whatever they're going for these days, either, though I find it a bit pricey. Even used Woltlab's suite of products recently, and I loved it. I think I can find the good in just about any platform, but at the moment, Xenforo leads the way for me!

How long have you been interested in forums?
Since I first found the first forum community I joined back in 1996. I wondered what this software was I was using, how it worked, and how could I get my hands on something similar? Didn't actually start that journey for another four years, but the thought was planted in my brain and I've been hooked ever since 🙂

I use IPB myself, what are your thoughts on that software
Slightly on the pricey side and a little bit bloated, but it's solid software. It's got a lot of good parts to it, and I do like the backend, very well organized!

DO you have or use most of the social media networks and what are you active on?
I have a Facebook account, to keep in touch with family back home in the UK, and I have a Twitter account that I don't ever really use. I tend to keep away from social media in general, because I find it to be a highly toxic environment. I understand its' uses as a marketing tool, and that's fine, but for me personally, I try to steer clear.
