So, I'm taking Assembly Language Programming this semester, and it's a chore. 😛 Am I being unreasonable to say that this shouldn't be required material?

Code:
textToShow db "Assembly Language sucks", 0

main proc
    lea esi, textToShow
    call PrintString
main endp

Ugh. 😛

Are you going to start writing programs in assembly language, or are you going to stick to C++? 😉

Noooooooo!

You couldn't pay me to write code in assembly. 😛

From the Wikipedia article on the RollerCoaster Tycoon:
Scottish game developer Chris Sawyer originally wanted to create a sequel to his highly successful Transport Tycoon, but after becoming obsessed with roller coasters, he changed the project into RollerCoaster Tycoon. Sawyer wrote RollerCoaster Tycoon in x86 assembly language, which was rare for a game published in the late 1990s

That is a crazy decision.

Wow. 😛

There are some people that just love to write assembly, it seems. Steve Gibson, a security expert, likes to brag about coding websites in assembly. I can't even imagine that!

There are some libraries written in Assembly like some encryption related ones. Some parts of PHP are written in Assembly to squeeze more performance out of it.

Writing a program 100% in Assembly in the modern world is madness.
Graphics drivers are apparently written in Binary.

From what I understand, isn't Assembly just a set of convenient mnemonics for binary code? I don't see why there'd be any benefit to writing something in straight-up binary any more.
