And blood shall fall from the skies.

AT&T is the largest USA ISP with over 15% of all USA traffic going threw their backbone. They have just blocked one of the most powerful websites on the Internet.

What does that mean? It means a war 😛

And in true Murder fashion: "Discuss."

Who cares? You can find other websites that are much funnier. And there are plenty of websites with all the content of 4chan.

Or there is always the thing called going outside.

I think there is much more shocking and disturbing things on the internet than 4chan.
I don't really agree with censorship on the internet. If parents install parental controls to prevent their children from accessing certain sites, thats fine. Guess AT&T thinks its our mommie and daddie now. Lol.
I stick with comcast. 😛

Sucks for whoever uses AT&T, any big /b/tards will most likely just switch anyway, so just some lost $$ for AT&T. I go to 4chan once in a while, but it really wouldn't affect me that much. I can understand AT&T though, 4chan has some nasty things including child porn sometimes being there too, so there can be some legality issues with some of the user postings.

And I agree with theezy, there are worse things than 4chan online, if anything AT&T should block GNAA sites, not an image board community.

4chan is overrated. I think other sites are much funnier and don't have 12 year old 'anonymous' users who really need to get outside more often.

Missing the point people.

1) Keep in mind what 4chan can do. These are the people that "hacked" time.com, these are the people who made bomb threats on football stadiums, these are the people who directly control 90% of our online humor (lolcats, rickrolling, ect).

2) Whether or not you like 4chan doesn't have anything to do with this. This topic was more of a "what do you think they'll do about it" topic, clearly that went wrong lol.

3) No matter how you look at it, AT&T is censoring the site. Sure, "who cares about 4chan" but what's next eh? If they get away with it, soon more and more sites will be blocked.

Personally I see the block being removed by Friday / Next Friday.

1) Leo Ghost is a /b/ 😀 jk lol

2) Yes, it is censorship - yet you can't do much about it your ISP provider can do pretty much anything they want. Though, how do you know that AT&T blocked 4chan? source? because ISP providers have never blocked any specific website - though they are monitoring uses of P2P clients and such.

3) 4chan should go die - it just is annoying and corrupts people's minds and it annoys me some ppl who come out of their thinking they are cool cuz they are /b/tards.

4) So 4chan does post illegal content, a lot actually - that is the websites job and has been to monitor that and the people there do get in trouble (cuz your IP is being logged).

5) Also, as Leo Ghost has mentioned - what are they going to really do about AT&T? 4chan people don't have to much power, anyone can do anything they are doing - they just are the dumb idiots are actually follow through on their plans and get in trouble.

@JamesD31
They haven't publically admitted to blocking it, however it's pretty clear they did and it shouldn't take long before it hits main stream press.

I say it'll be over soon, because 4chan DOES have a force behind them. Keep in mind that they can be extremely annoying with the black faxes, constant phone calls disrupting the normal customer service lines, ect. AT&T will get tired of dealing with them and give up on the block within a week.

I understand, though it just seems weird to why a ISP company will block a single website, when they have millions to choose from. Though, have you been blocked? Or is this just a posting on 4chan? I am just curious to where and how they are doing this and such.

it's already been lifted, it was blocked because of a ddos attack

don't see what the fuss is about really

@spyka
Told you it wouldn't last long, they wouldn't want to risk it...

The fuss was about censorship, and censorship of one of the most "free speech" sites on the web. Sure they do somewhat illegal things there, but if that's not free speech then I don't know what is.

It's a private company, this is America, private companies can censor what they want.

If this was a government mandate or something I'd be outraged but if ATT wants to block a bunch of sick child pornographers, hackers, and other shady characters, then really why does it bother you? Get a different ISP then.

@Irviding
*IF* AT&T was blocking hackers, child porn people, ect, I wouldn't have an issue at all. However, they were blocking 4chan. Ignoring the sterotype that has been created, 4chan in all reality has done things no one else has done. They stood up against things that shouldn't have happened. Instead of seeing 4chan as a group of 'deadly hackers' why don't you see them as an active rights group? They use their hacking power to fix corruption when needed, they use the tools they have at hand. Can't blame them for that.

4chan may be full of hate, it may be a place where some CP slips out, it may be a group of deathly hackers. However, it is also the voice of the people. By cutting off that voice we lose LOLCats, Rickrolling, and someday when we need a site that stands up to the bastard governments we won't have one of those either. By go we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot by taking away 4chan, that's why i'm unhappy.

Oh, and AT&T isn't my ISP 😉
