As a atheist, how do you feel about the idea itself? Do people have to believe in god or can people just not believe in him?

The Christian definition of it is that it's a "denial" of their god. You cannot deny something if you strongly believe and have concluded that it does not exist such as Santa Claus, then the same thing applies. It is a disbelief in the existence of deities.

I believe people are free to believe what they want. If people want to go out in the woods, dance naked, and worship a large boulder; be my guest. But when they force me to worship the rock with them and make threats, suddenly that's when I have a problem with it.

Absolutely, as long as no one is being a problem I don't care what you worship.

I have not let my religious beliefs define anyone affect my relationship with anyone. I am a theist and I am fine if someone is an atheist.

I can understand why a person would be an atheist or agnostic. However, I don't agree with those beliefs. Anyway, I have a lot of deep unanswered questions about the Christian religion.

I was brought up as a Catholic and learned from quite an early age that there's only evil to be found in that church. I guess that makes me an atheist.

It's a commonly used tactic to help with parole hearings. It's mostly an act for most convicts just wanting to manipulate the system for an early release.

Religion was found to help prisoners who rediscovered it in jail to come to terms with their crimes and try to turn their lives around, but once released there was no difference in their reoffending rates when compared with non-religious inmates.

I don't know what to say. Some just aren't strong enough after prison.

But I don't think they are faking it to wuss out of prison.

When it comes to belief systems, I don't care what a person decides to believe in. If you believe in existence of a God, it is fine. If you don't, it is still fine. The most important thing is to live a life that would not impact another person negatively.

I personally think people don’t have to believe in God. Belief is a choice, and it should come from what someone genuinely thinks and feels, not because they’re told they must. Some people believe in God and that gives them comfort or meaning, but others simply don’t believe, and that’s completely fine too.

If people are materialists and believe humans have no soul then athiesm works nicely with that.

But physics, personal experiences, and Neuroscience is saying other things.

However, though, the cynicism is understandable as to why so many hate organized religion, but that means a lot is about "what they want to believe" vs facts.

But even myself, I'm cynical of Catholicism and Protestantism, so I can understand why churches are dying in many places, but it's not about being biased, but rather it comes after soul searching and studying the Bible and religion.

I am not atheist but I believe that if someone is not convinced enough that God exists, they are free to not believe in his existence. Some change from atheism to theism after they have found their personal conviction. Atheism is perfectly okay.

Of course, though, there's a huge difference between a God that loves as a father and one that is indifferent to humans, as in they let nature run it's course and humans react to it.
