This is one of those things which are fairly common in newer software and in some plugins which I'm surprised aren't more common out of the box in modern forum software.
You just drop down a link and it turns that into an image or a video or whatever else instead of figuring which vague icon in the icon bar lets you post a video and being surprised when one vaguely named icon accepts certain types of media which another doesn't.
I have it in Gosora naturally, but really, it has been a thing for a number of years and it's probably not hard to get it running just about anywhere, if you look hard enough for a plugin for it. Perhaps, this has something to do with the clashes between the WYSIWYG model and the Markdown model which some newer software have adopted.
