Not really being a vegetarian but only avoiding meat for the cholesterol level. That is what the doctor said but it's more of an advice than a prescription. We are meat eaters at home and I don't know if I can withstand the temptation. It's good that people in our house promised to abstain from meat when I am around so as not to tempt me. I hope I can survive for a week without meat.
It's nice that the people around you are choosing to refrain from eating meat to keep from tempting you. I've been doing the same thing with my hubby. He is a diabetic and I'll usually just eat whatever he can eat. 1) I don't want to tempt him with something he's not suppose to be eating and 2) I don't want to have to make myself something different than what my hubby is eating anyway (it's just easier to make one dish and have both of us eat that). I wish you the best with your new diet. It is an adjustment but you'll get use to it once you start doing it.
@Corzhens It's really good that they've agreed not to eat any meat while you're around because it really can lead to temptation!
@Grimalkin It's also really good that you do the same with your hubby, especially considering he's a diabetic. We can all be weak at times and given his circumstances it's better to never even have that be a possibility.
@TDK He says that it doesn't tempt him but I'd still feel bad about eating it around him. If I decide to eat that stuff then I won't eat it when he's around.
I never avoid meat. I love my meat too much. Steak, Ribs, Meatloaf, etc. They are all so good! I think if you have a balance and don't go too crazy with the meat you should be fine.
