If you get invited to a baby shower, what types of gifts do you enjoy giving?

I've only been to a couple of baby showers in my life, but I feel like you can never go wrong with diapers. I always got things like bottles, pacifiers, and bibs too that I'd put in a nice little gift bag. Things that they would definitely use for the baby throughout the first year or so of its life. I never got clothes though because I was always taught the baby would outgrow them, and it just wasn't really worth it. Sure, they could be regifted or donated to a child who could wear them, but in all fairness, I felt like getting things that would be more likely to be used would be more beneficial.

When I buy baby clothes, I don't buy "newborn" size and go for a variety of sizes, one thing for 0-3 months, one item for 3-6 and so forth. I remember when I had my daughter, she didn't stay in newborn long because she was in the hospital for the first 10 days of her life. And I wondered why people bought me 2T and 3T sizes, but wow, I was happy to have those pretty dresses when the time came!

My favorite gifts that I got at my baby shower were the big baskets that were homemade (one was crocheted with fabric and another had little decorations hot glued onto it! The other favorite was a fleece winter bunting that was perfect for the first year! I still have that for my daughter in hopes she would a little one, but she said no.

That's not a bad idea for clothes, honestly. When I went to my childhood best friend's baby shower for her first kid way back in like 2015, I remember she got a lot of clothes for her son in addition to all the essentials, and I remember some of my coworkers getting clothes for our old salon manager's baby when we did a small, little baby shower for her. I don't remember any super creative gifts though, but it's been years since both of them. I always love seeing the creative ones though because I always feel like they're more special!

I like when people try to think of things that no one else thinks of. One such gift was a coat tree that had a wooden horse head for the top. It was so cute and we had it for years! When my daughter moved into an apartment, we took the horse head off so she could use it at her place 🙂

I think it depends on who is having the baby? Like if it was my brother having one va just one of my friends having one I’d be more likely to get a larger gift/multiple gifts for him than I would be for just a friend of that makes sense?

I think a good gift would be to get either diapers or formula. This stuff is super expensive and would definitely be helpful for any new parent.

If diapers, I would suggest don't stick with all newborn size. They grow out of those too quickly!

It isn't personal, but I'd probably go with an Amazon gift card. After having a child, you probably won't be out and about for a little while, so you may need plenty of things delivered to your house. I would also be iffy on buying things like formula. You never know what they'll actually be able to use.

I went to a few and I never buy a gift. The girl I'm with does and just writes that it's from both of us.
