Do you have any experience/knowledge whether the search engines recognise the back links, or the hidden links of your back links?

For example, if let's say you have a website abcde.com. Will Google recognise as a back link only abcde.com, or will it recognise (let's say) ABCDE, if the latter has a hidden backlink to abcde.com?

Yes it will recognize both as backlink. Hyperlink is also considered as a backlink to the site you are directing your user to.I hope that answers your question.

If the URL is present on ABCDE and the link is clickable then Google will surely recognize it as abcde.com
Search engines will recognize all the links directing to your website as backlinks of your website.
