Okay, I want to switch my hosting to another without restarting my forum. For instance, I want to switch a hosting to Speed Hosting (they have this free thing going on). But I don't want to reinstall it, I want the same data and everything in my forum. HOw to do that?

Number of questions:
- I am assuming you have your own paid hosting?
- What software are you running?

If the first question is answered, there is the more general way to transferring your forum is to take a full backup of all your files from the server AND THE DATABASE! (Do not forget the database, if the transfer corrupts it somehow then you risk the inevitable). You will then store your backup somewhere on your local machine or pen drive.

Take another backup (or copy the ones you just downloaded) and re upload all the files from your old hosting space to your new one. After this, it should look exactly the same (FTP wise) as your old webhosting server.

Next thing to do is inject the database into your new host through phpMyAdmin in your new CPanel. There are a number of ways in transferring your database over. If you are still stuck, I'm sure there are good documentations out there, Google is your friend 😉

Good luck.

Yes, are you using free forum host? If so, which one as some charge for this. If not, let us know what software you are using. It's a pretty simple task if you know what you are doing.

Where is your forum hosted? If you are on a free forum host then you probably won't be able to backup your forum.
