Are you one to snap at bad feedback or try and change what they say should be changed? Have seen a few people snap at my constructive bad feedback.
I try to improve on what people tell me 🙂 bad feedback is not bad because it tells you where you are going wrong and where you can improve, so it is good feedback.
I dont snap at bad feedback nor do I change what they say should be changed unless what they suggested makes a lot of sense and people on my forum agree with it.
Bad feedback is okay with me as long as it's well thought out, provides possible solutions to the problem at hand, and the person giving it isn't doing it because of personal reasons. I don't see why bad feedback is a bad thing if it actually helps you... If it's just "wow your site is crap, rubbish design", then that doesn't help at all and is likely to make me add you to my "Idiot" list. 🙂
I am happy to get bad feedback as it makes my site that much better but would never accept anything such as 'Stupid site!!!' etc I would either report or if I was moderator on the forum I would remove their post and issue them a friendly warning.
Bad feedback, in a way is better than good feedback because that let's you know what someone doesn't like and that can end up being changed and in some cases improving the site etc.
The only time I don't go crazy over bad feedback, is when the person giving it, actually wants to give the feedback, with ideas on how to complete the feedback, even if I don't like it. BUT, if all the person will state is to get off of a host, just because they hate that host, or to get a new color scheme, or to change a banner, without giving any ideas on how to best accomplish that process, then it is something that I won't consider without the light of day.
I welcome positive and negative feedback, negative feedback is the most welcome because it gives us the opportunity to improve and to be better than we were before. Plus for everyone who tells you about something wrong, there will be more people who feel the same way but don't take the time to tell you about it. Better to know than to not know IMO.
What I don't like however, is people who criticise for the sake of criticising and who deliberately try to damage a site's reputation by speaking badly of it in public, every opportunity they get.
I'll gladly accept any sort of feedback, just so long as a person isn't creating a feedback thread for the sole sake of bashing the forum, which could result in a permanent ban, especially if they're only there to bash you and/or your site's reputation, trying to make you look bad when so many others think you're doing an awesome job. I've had this happen to me before a few months ago, and while it is disturbing, all you can do is calmly explain why you think a person's idea may be a good or bad one in your eyes and leave it at that. If it gets to be a big debate, like if they keep insisting that you add or remove a feature and you've probably said no a million times already and that your mind is made up, I'd show that member the back door. Also, on other forums, while I can sometimes get disappointed at mine or another members' idea being rejected by staff for whatever reason, I won't throw a tantrum about it. Karma goes around and comes right back at the original person, and this is true both in real life and on forums. So there could actually be many sides to this.
