There isn’t one, we don’t have any banned members. I suppose we’d create one if we had to ban someone, but if we did ban someone it wouldn’t be permanent right off the bat. We’d start out with (for example) a week, then a month, and so on.
One forum I’ve seen has a sub-forum for members who are in trouble and need a time out. They are restricted to that one sub-forum. They can’t see or post in any other forum on the board.
I've only banned spammers & one member before. I would do temporary bans to allow for the member to cool off. Those I have permanently banned had issues on other forums as well with their attitude. So it wasn't just a "bad day" for them. I'm always for giving people chances & honestly would prefer to not ban at all & let us talk it through.
I don't have any ban appeal. I have banned a lot of members on my forums, but I have never received any requests to unban. When I ban someone I don't do it thoughtlessly, I ban only for grave mistakes, such as violating rules multiple times, threatening other members, using profane language, etc.
I have not got a ban appeal system in place. In fact, if they ended up getting banned they would have gone through my warning system big time and after that, it would be hard for them to get back into the site again. I had no members asking for an appeal and also most just go and never come back.
The only difference with that though I had to ban the same member almost five times as he was making many new accounts under different emails and different IPs address 🙁 that's what you all have to watch out for. I ended up banning them all and marge them together.
I don't ban people too easily if I am honest so if someone is banned on my forum then it's likely they were banned for a good reason and it is not someone I would want back on the forum. On the odd occasion that a ban may have happened on accident or someone would like to speak to me regarding their ban, we do leave in the ban message how they can contact us if they wish to speak to us about the ban and we will get back to them regarding it.
