What does your banned user group look like?

On my forum banned users have a user title that says "banned" and their signatures and profiles have a box that displays their ban; the reason and when it is up, if it's not permanent.

Mine has the "Banned" Title and a strike through their username.

They appear normal, I never understood the logic behind "decorating" them and making them stand out with strike troughs, special ranks, rank colors, ban messages placed in their signatures, etc, etc.

They should just be able to fade away into the crowd and eventually be forgotten.

If a forum has an "away mode" setting, you could set them to "Away" and set the return date to "Never" I suppose.

The banned users have a grey user banner/rank which says 'banned user' and the usernames have a strikethrough on them.

Just ban the member and they look like a regular member just with being banned.

Don't care for banned rank or anything find that a bit immature to frame a member.

I completely agree with this. I hated making this public when I was running websites. You ban them and that is it. Don't give the users any more glory.

I used to have a banned group, but honestly with my latest forum I just simply ban the user and there is nothing changed. They don't have access to anything and it just doesn't matter anymore lol.

This^^

Unless it's a spammer, I've actually made a spammer group and put them in there for the lulz, however I never understood why the banned members had to have a rank or special treatment. It just causes chaos, rumors, and of course gives the mod team the reputation of unfair moderation because members might have liked that member that was banned. 😛

As others have said, I've never decorated banned usergroups, in-fact on previous forums of mine, banned members look the same as ordinary users, even as much as the rank showing as "Registered Member". I'd prefer them to fade into the distance and just be forgotten about, rather than make a song and dance about it.

I also don't like them ban log pages some forums have started to adopt. Why would you publish the reason someone has been excluded from your community? Would you like it of the Police had a detailed log on their website of yourself if you had been arrested? Probably not.

For spammers though, I have a special usergroup for them, where they are listed as spammers and then once a month the forum automatically purged the accounts to free up space.

I usually prefer to use a ban system rather than a user group. Seems a bit weird to put someone in a user group to ban hem instead of the software's usual "ban user" feature.

I pretty much do this on all my forums for the banned group. :V I think it's quite common for forum owners to do this, though on my first forum I just made the banned group a brown color. 😛

At my forum we hard delete any spammer / spambot accounts and any content they left behind.

I haven't banned anyone on my IPS4 forum. Only one problem I had is one member posted wacky 5 times. I removed it and moved on.

I have options to ban them and delete them. Just delete them and added there email and IP addresses to the block list., keep in mind that not all forums software support it.

- My partner and i applied to have a forbidden group, nevertheless seriously together with our newest forum I simply purely exclude the person as well as there is nothing modified. They do not have accessibility to anything at all and yes it simply doesn't make a difference any more lol.
