I know it looks boring but the overall theme is kind of sleek and simple so I would not make header any much different. Some textures and images on the header would not really fit the overall theme.
Also I picked a darker color for the header. I took the exact colors from the menu gradient you already got there. It makes the whole header part much more combined, otherwise the menu part would really dominate (in case the header image is white/light).
