Banning a member

Hi,

I want to ban a member but i couldn't find a reason.

His posts are useless, and idiotic posts making troubles for other members.

what is the best reason for a ban ? :biggrin:

Give him a warning via PM asking him to stop posting nonsense, if he carries on harrassing other members ban him for 24/48 hours. If he still carries on, give him a serious warning and a longer ban.

Depends which way you want to go. You can edit his posts slightly if you want to keep active members.

They are your reasons for banning him? :S

Tell him he is spamming your forum with useless rubbish and that warnings have done nothing to stop this so the only option left is to ban him completely.

Just give him a temporary ban and say that the ban was for ignoring your requests for him to improve his post quality. If he comes back and carries on then ban him completely.

Yea I agree with Fowler, send him a PM/Email warning, then if he still doesn't follow suspend him for a week and explain why. Then if he still doesn't follow the rules, ban.

I only ban people if no other disciplinary action has succeeded or if I perceive them to be a threat to the community. Put him on a post ban for spamming and ignoring warnings. If he does not clean up his act after that, temp ban him for three days and if that isn't enough increase it to a few weeks. He should leave at his own accord then. If this isn't enough, ban him. That way no one can complain that you are being unfair to him.

I can't exactly say what I would do seeing as I can't even see the "useless" posts he is making. What is useless to one person might be not so useless to another. 😛
