Well, I have never used punBB before so thank you for THAT horrible experience.

Secondly, I don't see a way to change themes/modify themes.

punBB is a script which you can't edit themes, we have though got a new script which a friend made where you can customise every part of your forum with codes and you can make you own themes. We will be adding it this weekend hopefully.
