BBM for Android and iOS

No.

Windows RT/8 are not mobile OS's. Windows RT is an ARM port of Windows 8. That's the only difference.

Windows RT/8 can be considered mobile OS by many users since they both have the Modern touchscreen user interface, and both Windows 8 and RT can be installed on Tablets like the MS Surface.

Tablets don't have calling, and texting capabities, but tablets are categorize as mobile devices at many electronics stores.

It is a technicality. The device is a mobile device. The OS is not a mobile OS.

It's a matter of perspective.

Would BBM also be coming to Windows Phone 8, Windows RT, and Windows 8 which are all mobile operating systems?

I think a large amount of users who use BlackBerry services also use Windows because of popular office software like MS Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.

As far as I know there is no news yet about this. I personally only know Nokia who has adapted Windows Phone 8 for their new mobile devices so maybe that's why it's not yet adapted there. Maybe we'll see it soon once we see how successful this release for Android and iOS, haha.

I thought the development was stopped because of some kind of leaked compatibility with BB10 OS leaks? Can someone kindly update me with the latest news on this? 🙂

Their Twitter only said that they were working on fixing the issue and would give update as soon as they could. No further information.

I'm privvy to this stuff. We haven't heard anything. When I know, you'll know.

Did this ever happen? I got rid of my BB in 2012 because everyone either went to Iphone or Android.

I made the jump to Iphone but sometimes miss my BB.

It happened for few hours, apparently, but then taken back due to errors and such. I haven't heard any news about when it'll be available again.

If you have lots of friends and colleagues using BB, throwing it away may make communication slightly harder. But up to today I never really had problem even without BB since people are utilizing other apps like WhatsApp or LINE more, thankfully.

BBM for Android and iPhone is now available for download, but not everyone can use it. Only those who had signed up during the times it was still on progress got to enjoy it first. New people (like me) who had just installed it today can still submit your e-mail address and just wait for an e-mail about confirmation of activation or something similar.

What exactly is BBM? Is it just a chat app?

Yeah, I suppose you can say it becomes a kind of chatting application. It works like WA, LINE, and so on. Much like BBM in BlackBerry phones, you get PIN, you can invite people, group chat, and so on.

I currently only have 26 contacts. I'm lonely. 🙁

I've had it since September. I managed to get the early version for iOS. 😛

That's very lucky. Do you have a BlackBerry phone or is this your first time using BBM? XD

I only have 9 contacts, so you should just go away.

I had a blackberry before my iPhone so I couldn't wait to get BBM for iOS. 😀

I have the easiest pin ever. It's just numbers. 😛

I see, but that doesn't really explain why you only have 26 contacts, haha.

PIN numbers for BBM on Android and iOS start with 7, no? While PIN on BB phones start with 2.

The application is a bit slow for me sometimes but so far so good.

To be honest I've shown little interest in BB's I'm more of an android samsung person (not jumping on the band wagon here) but seriously the samsung phones are fantastic.

worth it's weight in gold, also due to some of the features it provides that make it all that more convenient

e.g

Direct call - all you need to do is view your contact displaying on your screen hold the phone upto your ear, and it will auto dial for you

Eye scrolling - the phone has technology available to sense the direction where your eyes are looking so if you're reading an article and senses your eyes at the bottom of the screen it will automatically scroll down the page for you (very handy)

Power saving - once the phone senses your eyes are pointing away from the screen it will dim the display and even lock it.

Also with videos if it senses your eyes are away from the screen while watching a youtube video it automatically pauses the video.

Just thought it's convenience and performance far outweighs BB anyday.

As a Samsung user, I completely agree. However for some people (like in my case) who have lots of friends using BB and its BBM, to be able to use BBM helps me to keep updated with info shared on groups. Now we do have LINE too, though, so it's much better.

I won't rag on blackberry for trying though, I mean they're doing what they can though sometimes when they got a competitor like Samsung that's just able to make people go "wow" it's like them being the underdog.

if your friends all use BB's I just have to say get them all over to samsung XD change the trend!!!!

@vividlion: Even without me telling them to change, they already have either a Samsung or an iPhone on their other hands. LOL, isn't that why BB decided to do this? Whatever the reason is, I do hope this can help to improve communication generally. BB(M) was very exclusive, that's why.
