In your opinion, what is quickly becoming obsolete?

For me, I guess one area that is going to be obsolete, is mass food production, like making food that generally has someone behind the cooking process, but a machine built for a specific purpose taking over the duties.

I remember seeing advertised somewhere online recently, a machine that can flip food in fast food restaurants. The food is put down on the stove or grill top, and the machine is activated and takes over the responsibility of making sure it gets flipped at the right time.

I think eventually desktop computers will, sadly, become obsolete. Not yet, because so many people still need them for different things, but I don't think we're too far away from laptops and tablets with docking stations completely replacing them.

Forums. Forums are becoming obsolete.
Sadly, you're not wrong. There'll always be a place for them, but they'll never be what they were ten or fifteen years ago.

Yeah, sadly this is true. Especially with Guilded being the number 1 alternative for Discord atm. A lot of people are figuring out that they have built in forums, so you're able to open up a server without any domain charges, hosting fees, etc. and even make money off of it. I personally have shut down almost all of my forums and websites for that matter because of it. (P.S. this isn't mine, I'm not promoting it just linking it as a reference)

Most people who say that "Oh, forums are dying," don't realize its based on the market. If your forum or forums isn't doing what it used to, then you're not doing it right.

In 2 months straight, I paid off my server payment, and paid HALF of my server's payment from profits. Back to... back.

I am on the top of my game right now. You just aren't doing it right. I told you myself, that what you had with RMMV... you have something there, but didn't pivot.

You're talking to a marketing guy. If you had listened to me, you would have made your money back. But you shut everything down. Changed domains. So now your database is a dud.

I don't say things to be an asshole, but it appalls me that people laugh at my ideas, my thoughts, my directives, and lose out.

You are wrong sir 🙂 They won't go obsolete. Laptops and Tablets are not powerful and performances to a Desktop is weak. So high demanding that GPU are fully out of stock and people to have to wait till 2022 to get their hands on a 3080.

The desktop can offer far more than Laptops, build your own, upgrade and replace parts, they last longer, they are more powerful to handle six monitors and or 49inch 4K screen, CPUs and GPUs for desktop able to OC and max them up more than GPUs in laptops. Also, games are getting bigger and they become high demanding on hardware resources.

Gamers, HIgh demanding designers and programmers are more into Desktops now than before. I myself have a gaming rig worth $4000 myself 🙂

I hear from people that they are going obsolete, In fact, most are saying it, not many people like yourself thinks positive and believes that they are still going strong. Mostly the large forums that have been going for 10 or 14 or 20 years are still going strong.

Not many people are lucky, you got it going nicely however that's your end and your achievement, not every forum owners have great results, doesn't matter how much experience they have.

I've proven many times that I can replicate this. The profits are from multiple sites. It's not luck.

You need to carve a niche. I can lay on my bed, sleep, and do nothing while my forums are online and thriving. It's because I put in the work.

This is the definition of "making money while you sleep."

If I tell you hints, tips, or tricks ...I got nothing to gain from saying so... maybe you should listen.

Now, I'm not saying there's a magic bullet for every forum, because I launched websites (most of the time, forums) and they've failed. I documented this in another thread, but again: This is because of the market.

Call of Duty is the perfect example of this. You can launch a website related to Call of Duty today, and it would be a success. Right now. But you need to keep at it, consistently over the years.

Forum success overnight is rare, difficult. So do it over the course of years. I launched an Advanced Warfare blog when the game was officially announced..

At the end of the lifecycle of Advanced Warfare - it was my most successful site. It was overshadowed by Black Ops 3 Forum.

That was from SCRATCH. With a little help from MW4, which doesn't exist. It was a rumor that became Advanced Warfare.

I can replicate it, over and over... and over... and over... and over again.

But the thing is, you need to recognize the opportunity. Which game has the most players? Right now, its Call of Duty.

The next big subject is Nintendo Switch, because of the new "pro" model. Whoever owns a Nintendo website or forum is reaping the money soon.

Which has a lot to do with crypto-mining and people being trapped inside due to Covid, but you are right, PC building, PC gaming and such have had a massive rise this past year, but that is an anomaly, IMO. The trend has been towards mobility and portable devices. I'm not saying they're going away entirely, far from it, I will never not have a desktop if I can help it, but they're going to become less common, IMO.

I'm not disagreeing with either of these points, and there's no question that desktops are the superior option for near enough anything gaming or programming-wise; however, Covid year aside, the trend has definitely been towards portability for the average person. I think that's going to continue once restrictions are lifted.

I agree that forums are becoming obsolete. The amount that there used to be a decade ago compared to now shows just that. It doesn't mean that all forums are dead, some are still very active, but the days are long gone when you could create a forum one day and have some reasonable activity by the end of the week. People have moved onto real-time discussions with the likes of Twitter and Discord.
