Being difficult for the sake of being difficult?

Have you ever come across someone, while debating, who is difficult only for the sake of being difficult?

I encountered someone today and he was being rude concerning a question I asked in a group. He said I shouldn't have even asked it, but I told him I ask questions that others might be afraid to ask, but also to see how members might respond. He continued to condemn me for asking the question, even after that explanation. I'll do what I do with other difficult guys who don't stop...I let them have the last word because that usually shuts them up 😉

Yep I see this more often on Facebook than forums though! Someone called me stupid recently for saying that the Pokemon games aren't the same haha. There's always going to be someone who wants to "debate" with you, but in reality they just want to argue with someone and feel good about themselves. You did the right thing, sometimes it's amusing getting into "debates" with people on social media.

Yes, I've come across people like that. Sometimes it seems they're more interested in arguing than having a genuine discussion. If someone continues being difficult after you've explained your reasoning, there's often little to gain from going back and forth. Like you, I find it's usually best to leave it there and let them have the last word rather than turning it into an endless debate. 😉
