Best area to place ads?

Where do you think is the best place to put ads?

I put a single banner centered above the Who Is Online list below the forums 🙂 Works like a charm.

I wouldn't know where the best place to put ads, since all the people that join, never post. So basically, I cannot experiment with a crowd that is inactive. 😛

And against most advertisers TOS. It's called disguising the ad and can cause you to be barred from most ad networks.

Which is why I usually read terms of service before I decide to do anything. 🙂

Depends if its text or graphical. If its text then its best to place it near content and to blend it with content, as well as the page with most impressions. If its graphical then not right in users' faces, but close to places where they are likely to click, or even mis-click, such as the submit button or if its a simple ad then between posts.

You wouldn't get the same impressions then, so you probably will not get as much.

That's an automatic alt+F4 or backspace. People absolutely hate seeing popups. Nothing more annoying, so why take the risk?

I think its at the bottom as it won't come in the way but if the forum is quite big and has active members who don't mind the banner much, then maybe a banner at the top.

Ads can be placed anywhere if done right.

If its text, basicly anywhere, but if its like graphics, then on the bottum of the page, top of the page, or side of the page.
