Best Days To Open

What in your opinion is the best day to open or launch your forum or website during the week? Is it a Monday, or is it a Saturday? Why do you think that specific day?

If you know a certain forum is opening on that day, do you wait til the next week so you can open on the day you want, or do you just not care?

For me, the best day is the earliest day that my forum is ready because time is money so you want to release as soon as possible. I don't consider the day of the week really.

If that is the case, I will probably release on the same day even if my forum is not ready. You don't want to release later than your competitors.

Weekends are always good, to catch the kiddies out of school and the adults off work (for those that get weekends off). You can also do fun "opening weekend" things.

MasterA makes good points about opening as soon as possible if you're monetizing, but if you're just doing it for fun, get creative! I also wouldn't open the same day as another hyped forum if I wasn't monetizing, gotta be strategic. I'd honestly try to speed up my opening to beat them - or maybe wait till they fizz out and then steal their thunder a week or two later.

If someone had a new forum to open now, this weekend would be perfect with Memorial Day being Monday and it being a three day weekend for many people.

If your ready to go then start to tell your friends, twitter, promo boards, search, or whatever you are using. Why wait? If its ready now, do it.

I don't think there is going to be much overall impact on any site that is not in the bigger leagues with sites/boards that are well established that have years on you.

Memorial Day weekend or equal may not really matter since many people wait for these times to hit the road for a small good time getaway. I don't think the internet is on the minds of people when they spent a few grand to getaway to enjoy the sights and are all pooped out from a day of doing whatever.

Even if your staying local everyone is going to the beach, family, BBQs, and all that stuff on a fast overnight to get the heck outta dodge for the night.

Open it up now if ready.

You can never be "ready" to open. It's all about trial and error. If people join and contribute, then don't fix what isn't broken. If you're still not getting any daily activity, then you should try to make your forum more appealing.

I've never really thought about having a certain day to open. I've always done it when I'm ready. 🙂

Early in the morning at 5am, so you can have enough content on the forum because everyone starts waking up.
