Best host for vB?

I highly recommend hostgator.

I use them to host the majority of my sites, and their dupport is absolutely amazing.

They will solve ANY problem you have with your site. Even things like slow loading time, 500 internal errors etc. and do it in a timely fashion.

To be honest, they solve the problem for a while, then it happens again in about 3-4 days.

Shared plans aren't a good choice if you're planning to use HostGator.

Just my 2 cents.

I had a slow loading time due to using a subdomain as a viral FB app.

I transferred 19GB of traffic in 2 days, so it's understandable.

I don't have any problems with HostGator, they solve the problems and it's generally a user error that causes them to come back.

Yeah and Hostgator offers good upgrades if you have went over the limit and run out of space. =) and SUPPORT and dupport. 😀 ERROR COMPLETE. 😀

We are experiencing slowness and a few small moments of downtime occasionally currently, so thanks all for the advice. I will be moving the forum soon.

I would suggest a VPS as they are MUCH more powerful then any shared host, if you are up for $10/m you can host this on a very speedy vps, I personally would say HawkHost if you are not up for a vps. 🙂

VPS = Virtual Private Server

A lot of hosts use VPS's to host tons of websites, and mine now start at $5 a month, you can also google: define: vps and it should come up with some things.

Hey JPM The Discussion Cafe uses HostGator and we have never and will never switch from that host. I would truly recommend you to use HostGator or as least try it.

1. Servers are NEVER down (and when I mean never, they are never down🙂)
2. Customer service by chat or phone is 24/7 NO MATTER WHAT EVEN IF IT IS ON THE HOLIDAYS
3. Super cheap prices and comes with many free offers
4. Your site will never lag or be slow
5. Customer service representatives will say "Hello thank you for calling HostGator today and how may I help you today?" and will not say "Hello?!"
6. Once you have ordered your hosting package, it is an instant activation.
7. After you order a palate with HostGator, they will transfer your WHOLE site over to HG free of charge.

Enjoy!

Do you happen to know if, once I have tranferred hosting to them they would transfer it for ASAP?

Also - Can I call a free phone number from Europe?

I use fatcow.com its a green host, I've never had any problems with them, they ran Vbulletin for me just fine, and their addons are pretty cheap, like Private whois etc. And plus its pretty cheap, you can usually get a year of hosting somewhere around 50.00 USD

I'm sure you would be able to call them regardless of where you live. I could be wrong though. I live in USA, may be different for me although.

Of course, but it doesn't make it free! Anyway i have seen they have live chat 24 7 that's good enough for me.

Yeah it's safer for me to use the Live Chat, I think the only way I am going to be able to ring them is if they were to use Skype.

@JPM - yes they have a toll free number and a live chat🙂 I would think they would transfer your site right away but I don't know about it. PM me if you want a discount.
