Best Software for a General Discussion Forum?

I want to make a unique General Discussion Forum, Which free forum software should I use?.

Is Smf anygood?.

I honestly don't think software really matters, it's just a framework. Go with whatever you feel comfortable with.
 
Ah vanilla, Thanks for suggesting It, but I want more 'fuller' software so to speak. 😛 🙂
 
SMF will work... but if you're doing the skin design yourself then prepare for a nightmare. It's not fun at all.

Personally I like MyBB for software. It looks nice (like an updated version of IPB 1.3), it's pretty easy to skin ( much easier than SMF or phpBB ), it has some nice standard features and it has plenty of interesting mods to add more.
If nothing else it is worth a look into.
 
Well, A theme that stands out, mods and I have some Ideas that I dont want to share Just yet. 🙂
 
Was thinking of Mybb, But also was considering Smf as I havnt seen it Used as much as mybb.
 
I use to used SMF like more than 5 years ago and found that their are better one out their because SMF sucked. Just giving my 10 cents worth.

SMF does not "suck". It is a solid forum software which works perfectly. However their development is slower which is why it isn't the best software if you're planning to have your forum on it for a few years.

I would vote Mybb if you don't like Vanilla.

Is there a demo of Smf I can try?.

Smf seems to have some great mods.

Will SMF 2.1 be better than mybb 1.8 and mybb 2.0?.

If not Ill probably use mybb.

I don't know. With modifications both of them are very good. 🙂

Their was a website a while ago which you compare your requirements and spit our forum software options. I forgot what it was called.
