Best way to install a forum?

Hi i downloaded phpbb3 and tried uploading it to my host i followed the instructions but its not working.

Im using filezilla to upload and im hosting at 3ix.org.

Upload all the files, then open install.php in your browser. I don't know much about phpBB, but you may have to create a database in cPanel.

Like 将軍 Kirisute Gomen said, once you get all the files uploaded point your browser toward the install.php file (which should be in a seperate file called 'install' from the main dir).

That should get you started at least, and once you are required to create a MySQL database it will tell you. CPanel has a wizward for setting one up, so it should go pretty easy for you. If you need any further help, my msn in in my profile ~wink~

Hi thanks for the info i have now set it up it wasnt installing because 1 file wouldnt upload but i got there in the end. And the Mysql database was alright to set up.

You could install it with fantastico if you have it on your cpanel. It would only take a couple clicks and you are done.

Itried that but for some reason it didnt work i installed 4 now that wont work and cant delete so i have upploaded it myself.

Best way is the manual way, makes sure nothing goes wrong, unless it is your fault of course -razz-

I always unpack the phpBB package and just upload all the files in a zip and just extract the zip in File Manager in cpanel (thats the quick way of doing it) -8)-

It was my fault it didnt work first of all.

And i never thought about doing it that way Subz.
